Amazon Family Content Marketing

Bringing the assistant’s benefits home for families through friendly blogs.

What privacy concerns do families have with digital assistants?

Situation

Amazon Family Hub is a blog filled to the brim with helpful articles. They needed to write these better from an SEO perspective, simplify the publishing process, and promote products and apps without being too salesy. They also needed to promote this work with marketing emails, and associated social posts. I was brought in as a senior copywriting consultant at an agency serving this client.

Approach

Starting with target keywords, a document template the agency built, and Amazon’s extensive internal style guide, I dove in. I conducted research on the Amazon and 3rd-party products that needed to be featured in the articles, and read through interviews with subject matter experts the agency had sourced. I synthesized everything into detailed outlines, and after getting buy-in, drafted on-brand articles and went through a few rounds of agency and client revisions to get them solid. To make the work more efficient, I then chopped these finished works up into emails and social posts, also recommending images from the drafts to use in both formats.

Results

Amazon was pleased with the work, and while I don’t have specific metrics, the agency I consulted for continued winning work from this client.
