Search Engine Optimization

My Background in SEO

Running so they can crawl

Search Engine Optimization is the art of helping websites show up for relevant searches from users, especially those who are likely to buy. While this most often means optimizing Google searches for websites, it might also mean apps on the app store, listings on Amazon stores, and any other platform where users look for information and entertainment. I got my start in a small SEO agency, writing SEO-rich blogs and optimizing metadata, so this type of work has always been in my background.

Process

How do I make it happen?

01

Keyword Research

With a deep knowledge of tools like SEMrush, I build out lists of relevant keywords and competitive research, using data to find opportunities that are actually possible for the website to rank.

02

Content Strategy

Using tools like SEMrush and Feedly, I stay on top of trending topics and searches, and help create long term strategies for blogs, ebooks and more to draw and convert organic traffic.

03

Technical SEO

I audit and clean up the backlinks of websites to ensure only authoritative ones remain, and discover issues in the website code. I present this in detailed reports that make it easy to begin executing fixes.

04

Metadata

Using tools like Screaming Frog, I scrape page and image metadata, like alt text, meta descriptions, and title tags, in organized spreadsheets. I then rewrite everything, geared towards both human users and search crawlers, with the keyword research in mind.

05

Reporting & Tracking

Once baselines are established, I set up regular reports to run and track the position of various keywords over time, and the presence of technical errors on the website. This is tracked against organic traffic in Google Analytics, so I can monitor performance and validate ROI over time.
